Champagne Veuve Clicquot
La Grande Dame Magnum 2008
The Grande Dame is the Cuvée de Prestige of the Maison, a great wine honouring Madame Clicquot. It was born in 1972 with the Vintage 1962, when the Maison turned 200 years old. Its history began 10 years before, when 8 terroirs, classified as Grand Cru, were selected by Madame Clicquot, after her long experience in the field. The assemblage is mostly Pinot Noir from the best parcels in Montagne de Reims (Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy) and Grande Vallée de la Marne (Ay), contrasting with the freshness of Chardonnay grown in Côte des Blancs (Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger).
The Grande Dame rests for a long time, at least 6 years, before being able to grant incredible feelings, almost a silky one to the palate. It has a fresh start, followed by strong and brave notes, a fresh perlage and a complete harmonious symphony. The precious essence of Grande Dame is contained in an elegant dark-glass bottle bearing the Maison’s typical symbols: the anchor, symbol of the Maison, the letters VCP directly engraved in the glass and the comet of 1811, which granted the exceptional quality of grapes that year. No by chance,This wine was also called “The comet wine“. The ever-present lucky seal is available on each of these prestigious bottles.
