Champagne Veuve Clicquot
Cuvée Saint-Pétersbourg
The Cuvée Saint-Pétersbourg come from the assemblage of Brut Yellow Label of the Maison Veuve Clicquot. Pinot Noir is predominant (50-55%) and grants structure and strength. 33% Chardonnay grants fineness and elegance, while Meunier (15-20%) gives roundness. This Cuvée is the result of wines coming from 60 different crus. The vins de reserve are, according to the vintage, 25 to 40% part of the blend. After prise de mousse, this wine rests on its yeasts in the cave for 3 to 4 years, then liqueur is added. After disgorging, it rests for 6 more months in order to integrate liqueur to the wine and unveil development notes.
The continuity of the style, tribute to the courage and character of Madame Clicquot who firstly sent this Champagne to Saint-Pétersbourg in 1814, when Russia had its borders closed.
