Champagne Pommery
Les Clos Pompadour Magnum 2004
The Champagne Les Clos Pompadour by Maison Pommery was presented in 2011 to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the historic Maison of Reims. A special and very limited production created by the expertise of the Chef de cave Thierry Gasco who personally followed all the production phases, from the vineyard to the bottling. This special edition comes exclusively from the prestigious Clos Pompadour located within the 55 hectares of the Domaine Pommery in Reims, in an elevated and panoramic position overlooking the city centre and its majestic cathedral. The Clos vineyards are between 25 and 30 years old and the blend also reflects the proportions of the vines grown: 75% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir and 5% Meunier.
Les Clos Pompadour is a tribute to its Clos of origin but also a reference to the character of Madame de Pompadour, historical figure who was a symbol of magnificence, elegance and grandeur, values that this special Champagne Magnum exemplifies perfectly. This edition is the result of the 2004 vintage – excellent Champagne year- with mis en cave in 2005.
Les Clos Pompadour comes in an elegant pale golden yellow colour with noticeable green reflections. To the nose is robust, direct. Initially notes of slightly dried lemon stimulate the smelling membranes; then, in a continuous momentum, floral notes are intertwined, from white flowers such as hawthorn to some hints of rose. In the mouth the whole opens up, guides and transports us into a universe of sweetness, freshness, complexity and persistence, to end with a pure and lively final note.
