Champagne Louis Roederer
Cristal Vinothèque 1995
Champagne of pure pleasure, of great gastronomy, Cristal is delicate and powerful at the same time, yet with subtlety and precision. The most famous of Louis Roederer‘s Champagnes was created in 1876 to satisfy the demanding taste of Tsar Alexander II. The emperor asked Louis Roederer to reserve for him each year the best cuvée of the Maison, which he particularly appreciated. To accentuate the uniqueness of this exceptional Champagne, a flat-bottomed crystal bottle would be specially created. It would have the name of this precious material, which enhances its transparency and luminosity. Elaborated only in the “great vintages”, when the maturity of Chardonnay (about 40%) and Pinot Noir (about 60%) that compose it is perfect.
Cristal‘s ability to age is surprising, hence the idea of the Vinothèque Collection, a series of bottles preserved – for prolonged aging – in an ideal environment and in complete darkness. Cristal Vinothèque thus preserves purity, harmonious maturity and a more complex bouquet. A very limited number of bottles of Cristal Vinothèque – after tens of years – will then be disgorged with a low dosage to discover the best balance between the fruit, the freshness and the maturity achieved.
