Champagne Krug
Grande Cuvée 171ème Édition
The Champagne Krug Grande Cuvée represents the highest expression of the Krug philosophy, founded on craftsmanship and know-how: a blend of 120 wines from over ten different vintages. Its extraordinary finesse is due to resting for at least six years in the cellars. It takes over twenty years to make a bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée: the first Cuvée de Prestige recreated every year, and which goes beyond the concept of vintage.
This bottle left the Krug cellars and received its cork in the spring of 2022. It is the last stage, after more than 7 years of aging in the cellars to gain refinement and elegance.
This bottle, Grande Cuvée 171ème Édition, is an extraodinary assemblage of 131 wines from 12 different vintages, the oldest of which is from the vintage 2000 and the youngest from 2015. To complete the wines, the Maison made use of its wide range of vin de réserve, making a careful selection among them that make up 42% of the final assembly. Krug Grande Cuvée 171ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2015, a year marked by unprecedented heat and drought that prevailed from the end of May to mid-August, slowing grape development. Fortunately, rains and reasonable temperatures in the second half of August allowed the berries to grow in optimal conditions. The harvest took place under the rain between August 31 and September 21, with great heterogeneity from plot to plot.
