Champagne Drappier
Rosé Grande Sendrée 2010
The Champagne Rosé Grande Sendrée 2010 is the Cuvée de Prestige by Maison Drappier. Its name comes from a plot of land that was reduced to ashes after a fire ravaged the town of Urville in 1836. It was a spelling error in copying the data from the land registry that transformed cendrèè (incinerated) into sendrè which today gives the name to the Cuvèe. The shape of the modern bottle reproduces an old 18th century bottle found in a cellar in Urville. The Champagne Rosé Grande Sendrée expresses the elegance of Pinot Noir – grown on a soil rich in chalk – and the refinement of a small addition of Chardonnay.
The Champagne Rosé Grande Sendrée 2010 is complex to the nose, opening on notes of strawberry, raspberry and violet with toasty nuances. To the palate is round and smooth with a rather sharp vein that tends to a complex roundness, reminiscent of red fruits and good freshness. A decidedly rich Champagne Rosé with plenty of persistence.
