Champagne Bollinger
La Grande Année 2014
The Champagne La Grande Année 2014 by Bollinger is the result of blending 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay from 19 crus: mainly Aÿ and Verzenay for Pinot Noir and Chouilly and Oiry for Chardonnay. The first fermentation always takes place in oak barrels; after bottling, the froth and ageing in the cellar are carried out with corked bottles and this ensures better protection against oxidation; remuage and disgorging are executed entirely by hand (as expressly indicated on the front label).
For the Maison Bollinger, only the highest quality harvests become La Grande Année: the 2014 vintage gave rise to a wine that is structured, rich and complex at the same time, both for its minerality and its exceptional intensity.
The Champagne La Grande Année 2014 by Bollinger has golden nuances that reflect the maturity of the wine and the winemaking techniques of the Maison. To the nose it is precise and fruity with a slight marine scent. Aromas of cherry and lemon mingle with quince and bergamot. Then notes of hazelnut and almond, peach and mirabelle plum complete the range of aromas of this wine. To the palate, the initial sensation is of a fine and intense effervescence, followed by a splendid vinosity, and then balanced by a delicate acidity. Its very fine texture and finish bring excellent length to the palate, accompanied by a delicate minerality and complex fruit and citrus flavours. This wine unfolds gradually, revealing all its potential and intensity.
